The rapidly growing metropolitan landscape of New Delhi attracts a constant influx of labour from nearby rural regions. Families, men, women, and their young children travel long distances in search of stable employment, often carrying all their belongings with them. A large number find work as construction labourers, performing strenuous tasks at building sites across the city.
These workers are mostly unorganised and operate in groups led by an informal leader who negotiates work terms with contractors. Their living conditions remain highly vulnerable. Considered as temporary residents, they receive little to no attention from urban authorities, leaving their basic civic needs unmet. With the facility of Mobile Creches for Working Mother Children, these kids are raised and protected from unsafe and unhealthy environments.
Objectives:
To provide integrated day care services, including health, nutrition, early education, and recreation for children of working mothers at construction sites, slums, and resettlement colonies.
To build a professional workforce in the voluntary sector by training childcare workers from within the organisation, as well as other nonprofit groups.
