Our recent flight with Frontier Airlines out of Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) proved to be one of the most straightforward beginnings to a family vacation we've ever taken, despite the fact that traveling with children can feel like a marathon before the vacation even starts. As parents of two active young children, my partner and I were ready for the typical stressors associated with low-cost airline travel: lengthy lineups, bewilderment at check-in, grumpy toddlers in security lines, and a flurry to find a seat together. Rather, we were greeted by a serene, tidy terminal, friendly personnel, and a procedure that seemed doable from start to finish. Frontier operates at DTW's North Terminal, which was simple to use and never felt overcrowded. The check-in kiosks were intuitive, and a smiling Frontier Airlines DTW agent stepped in to assist when our toddler decided to hit a few extra buttons. Security was quick, and we were even directed to a family-friendly lane, which made a world of difference. Once inside, there were decent food options and plenty of seating where the kids could unwind before boarding. The flight crew was upbeat and welcoming, and we were in the air on time. For a budget carrier, the entire experience was far more relaxed and family-friendly than we expected.
