I suspect Yohami is just being metaphorical. It has less to do with penis envy than with showing off and being named in the history books forever.

That’s still the same thing, Bellita. Is your first thought really “oh she’s just showing off” instead of “it must have taken her years to achieve that…well done her” upon seeing someone like Valentina Tereshkova? Why is it so hard to believe that a woman can choose a traditionally male-dominated field because she genuinely WANTS to… for reasons other than to massage her ego? That’s as  fallacious as saying women who stay at home to raise their children only take that route because they’re too dumb to have a career.

 

You really, reaaaaaaally can’t complain about feminists demeaning SAHMs when you are essentially doing the same.

Isabel, you’re going to have to explain to my slower self how one person’s saying that an astronaut of any sex is mostly in it for the ego boost is “essentially” the same as demeaning a stay-at-home mother.
