Owners of these cars are most likely to watch motorsports (generally just the V8’s though, not the F1 or other motorsports). They probably don’t know a lot about the inner workings of their car (surprisingly, but this is what I’ve observed), they just know it goes fast, and gets to top speed nice and sudden. There’s a special sub-category in this one too – the V8 ute driver. Utes seem to emphasise the above traits, but also indicate that he is either very single and loving it (no room for kids) or doesn’t think much of his family. And I’m talking V8 utes here, so all you tradies with your one-tonners can keep a lid on it. How does this translate to something meaningful for the ladies? These guys are rough and ready, and what you would call your ‘typical aussie bloke’. There are exceptions of course, and the V8 is an affordable alternative to the European, so don’t judge him straight away. But if he owns a Ford or Holden stubby cooler, or even better, carries it around with him 24/7, you’ve got yourself a man’s man. Don’t expect a foot rub ladies, and you’d better have a good hobby to keep you occupied on the weekends. Boy Racers – represented by the Nissan Skyline, the 180SX (that’s what I own), the Celica (ewww) or any other Japanese import that would look at home on the set of the Fast and the Furious. These boys like their cars. They generally know about the inner workings and regularly tinker under the bonnet of their pride and joy. They generally aren’t as much into watching motorsports, except maybe drifting comps. But they’re actually more likely than a V8 driver to be a fan of the Formula One (F1 fans are hard to find).
